The roots of our visit to Uganda extend back over more than 50 years of friendship. These deep links mean that when we arrive we will be welcomed with joy and excitement. We know that the friendships started on these visits often last for many years. We are a group of 19 travellers of all ages drawn from 5 churches in Bristol. Our timetable includes visits to friends in Kampala, the Dioceses of Luwero (briefly), Nebbi, Northern Uganda and Kitgum. Along the way we will be welcomed into homes and families. It is a precious gift to be invited to share someone else's life for a while. We'll be given insights into health, education, development and church life in a very different culture. As a bonus we also get to visit some amazing landscapes, birds and animals in national parks. We look forward to sharing it on this blog.
Lots of excitement building, our group WhatsApp is brimming with messages, this time tomorrow we will be in the air flying to Entebbe via Brussels and Kigali. Lots of packing to be finished, mostly things to be taken out for others, ranging from Bibles, First Aid bits, a cassock alb and some glacé cherries! Janet
On the 20th of July, members of the youth that are going organised a cake sale to raise some funds for the trip. It was held at CCD, after the service. We made lots of cakes, and members of the church brought cakes to. Including blueberry muffins, rice krispy cakes, fruit loaf, flapjacks, brownies, cup cakes and lots more! We raised an astonishing £427!! The money will go towards projects in Uganda, and will help to support the youth that are travelling. Thank you to everyone who made cakes, and to everyone who bought them. We are very appreciative!! It feels very close, and you can feel the excitement bubbling! Below are some pictures from the sale. ~ the Youth Team: Eloise, Elliot, Ruby, Zac, Faith and Hope
