We stayed in a mountain retreat in Nyore surrounded by coffee and banana plantations. Beautiful scenery and lovely people. Walked through the village and up into the hills.
An update from the Green family: Our time in Gulu. We arrived in Gulu on Saturday evening. We stayed in the Church hill courts hotel. On Sunday we got up to go to church, and went to the Gulu cathedral. The service was amazing, so lively and fun. Everyone was so welcoming. Elliot's highlight was definitely having hard boiled eggs with the clergy afterwards! We got picked up from church and met our hosts, Moses and Caroline and their sons and daughters. We went to their day care centre and had a lovely lunch. Then we traveled to their house which had lots of land, including swamps and lots of trees. We found plants that are sensitive to touch and they close when touched. It was very fun. That evening, we had a campfire and learnt about how Ugandans live. It was eye opening and a great evening. Me and Elliot then went to school with the ACs. It was interesting to see how school works here. However since I finished my GCSEs, I haven't learnt for mo...
After an average of 4hours sleep, we woke up and headed to a lovely breakfast buffet, soaking in the views of Kigali. Most of the youth had a plunge into the shockingly FREEZING COLD infinity pool- showing off their amazing jumping moves ๐ช Moments later, it was time for lunch, which was of a similar buffet style to the morning. The options included fish curry, pasta, chips and lots of rice! To get the airport for our supposed 18:45 flight, we left the hotel at 3pm. The way to the airport was filled with many motorbikes taking over the roads. When we arrived there, we got stopped and searched, which included our bags being sniffed by a scary dog! Once inside, we checked in our bags, went through security and wait for what we thought would only be an hour…we were wrong. At this point we were all hopeful and ready to leave. But no… We entered gate no.3 and sat there patiently waiting to board t...
Day 1! Some started their journey yesterday, by travelling down and staying in a hotel overnight. Others got up at 1am and got a coach, whilst others drove. We had to make a gromit stop! We were all slightly bleary-eyed as we arrived to Heathrow, but excitement fizzled in the air as we joined the ever growing bag drop queue. What should have been a simple task took over 40 mins! It seemed that there couldn't be more than 2 people looking after the desks! Everyone seemed to have at least 6 suitcases each! ๐งณ After getting herded into a different queue, we finally dropped our bags and made our way to security. Most were swiftly through security, but some got stopped and shampoo was tested. Janet's Bible also seemed to be suspicious! ๐๐งด We took these pictures going down an escalator, and Lauren almost dropped her phone all the way down! ๐ We boarded the first plane to Brussels. It was very quick! We land...
