Rooted in Rwanda (1st August)
After an average of 4hours sleep, we woke up and headed to a lovely breakfast buffet, soaking in the views of Kigali.
Most of the youth had a plunge into the shockingly FREEZING COLD infinity pool- showing off their amazing jumping moves 💪
Moments later, it was time for lunch, which was of a similar buffet style to the morning. The options included fish curry, pasta, chips and lots of rice!
To get the airport for our supposed 18:45 flight, we left the hotel at 3pm. The way to the airport was filled with many motorbikes taking over the roads. When we arrived there, we got stopped and searched, which included our bags being sniffed by a scary dog! Once inside, we checked in our bags, went through security and wait for what we thought would only be an hour…we were wrong. At this point we were all hopeful and ready to leave. But no… We entered gate no.3 and sat there patiently waiting to board the plane. However, little did we know that we would be sat there for over 3hours… our 6:45 plane had ‘technical issues’ and so we had to wait for another one at 10pm.
Finally, at around 10.30, we were on the plane 😅 and were given free drinks as compensation…. (many loved the mango juice)
After about 24minutes, AND ALL THAT HASSLE, we landed in Entebbe!!
THEN, just when we thought we’d finally made it, we spent an hour and a half queuing for border control.
Finally, at around 1.30am, we met our amazing drivers- John, Francis and Quraish! They took us to ‘Secrets Guest house’ whixh is where we finally took another 4 hour sleep, but not before the men drunk their beers and we had a 2.30am group meeting.
(there was a failed uoload- don't worry, you haven't missed a picture)
By 4am everyone (hopefully!) was fast asleep. 🤞💤
Staying Rooted (just hopefully not in Rwanda this time…)
